Raphael

Raphael was one of the most famous painters in history, and his paintings were so popular that they became known as "Raphael's." The artist was born Raffaele Sanzio in Urbino, Italy in 1483. He spent his childhood in Florence, where he learned to paint from Lorenzo Il Magnifico.

Raphael painted more than 80 works during his lifetime and died at the age of 37 in 1520. His most famous painting is "The School of Athens," which depicts Plato sitting at a desk with Aristotle, Michelangelo and Julius Caesar.
