Alfred Sisley

Alfred Sisley is a British-French Impressionist painter who was born in Paris in 1839. He lived in Britain and France, and died in 1899.

He was a member of the Impressionist movement and is most famous for his landscapes, which are typically painted outdoors on location. In addition to his landscapes, Sisley also painted portraits, still lifes and flowersβ€”often depicting them with a freshness that was new at the time.

Sisley's work has been exhibited at the Paris Salon since 1874; he also showed work at various London exhibitions between 1886 and 1900. He sold many of his paintings during his lifetime; however, he never became wealthy because he didn't sell enough pieces to pay his debts or provide financial security for himself or his family.
