Wassily Kandinsky
Wassily Kandinsky is a 20th century artist whose works are known for being colorful and lively. His artwork has been featured in museums, galleries, and private collections all over the world.

He was born in Russia in 1866 and began painting at a very young age. By the time he was 12 years old, he had already begun training to be an artist under the tutelage of his uncle, who was an art professor at Moscow University. In the late 1880s and early 1890s, Kandinsky traveled throughout Europe with his first wife and painted landscapes.

In 1911, Kandinsky moved to Munich where he met Franz Marc and Paul Kleeā€”two other artists with whom he would later share an exhibition space called Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). In 1915 he began working with Gabriele MĆ¼nter on her paintings as well as some of his own pieces.

Kandinsky was also involved in spiritual studies during this time period and believed that art could be used as a means for spiritual self-expression. He published a book about this idea called Concerning The Spiritual In Art (1912).
