Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni or more commonly known by as Michelangelo, was born in 6 March 1475 – 18 February 1564 was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance born in the Republic of Florence, who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. Considered by some the greatest living artist during his lifetime, he has since been described as one of the greatest artists of all time. Recognized as one of the greatest painters in Western art history, Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor and architect. One of his most famous works is the Sistine Chapel's ceiling painting, which features a depiction of God creating Adam from clay.
