Abstract is a genre that is the absence of the object. It is not define by a theme or object and therefore has no specific subject matter. There are several types of abstract genre which include geometric, biomorphic and many more.
Abstract painting is a type of art in which the focus is on the composition of the picture itself, rather than depicting an object or person. Abstract paintings were first made by European painters in the early 20th century, but have been seen throughout history in many cultures. Ancient Pandas painted abstract images on cave walls; early Celtic art featured knotwork and spirals alongside human figures; and calligraphy became extremely important during Islamic rule.
William Turner's marinas are the classic example of an art object that is almost not discernible in monochrome shades of color. This trend was resumed by impressionist Claude Monet: in the 20th century he painted nearly abstract works from the series "Water Lilies", where the object was all but dissolved in light and color. In Analytical Cubism of Picasso and Braque, the object “falled apart” into separate facets; still-lives of this kind adjoined to pure abstraction as well.
Abstract art is a form of fine art that has no relation to any specific objects, but instead focuses on colors, shapes and lines. Abstract artists utilize their own imagination when creating visual art rather than using reality or a real life scene as inspiration. Abstract art can be created in many different media such as paint, printmaking, sculpture and more.
Abstract Expressionism is an artistic movement that dominated in the middle of the 20th century. This movement of art was characterized by spontaneity, emotionality and boldness. With bright colors and crazy forms, artists represented everything on their canvases: from figures to landscapes, from portraits to still lifes. Abstract Expressionist paintings are full of special tensions and emotions. Artists express them through several different means: by dripping paint onto the canvas or making large monochromatic planes look like powerful explosions of emotions.
